Two hundred student engineers met their graduate year group sponsor in the Thévenin amphitheatre on 19 October 2009.
The sponsorship of students at ParisTech, a school “at the heart of information technology”, by this world leader in advanced air and aerospace technology is the logical extension of a partnership stretching back many years.
Marc Darmon, Managing Director of the Naval Division at and sponsor of the 2011 graduate year group of student engineers, was welcomed by Yves Poilane, Director of Télécom ParisTech.
During this initial meeting, Mr. Darmon started by introducing the Thales Group: a world leader in advanced technology for the aeronautics, aerospace, defense, security and transportation markets. Civil and military systems share a large number of innovations in common. With its global network of 25,000 high-level researchers and engineers, Thales has earned particular recognition for its ability to develop and deploy dual civil and military technologies.
Marc Darmon went on to describe his own experience as a student at Télécom ParisTech and his professional career, revealing the many engineering occupations performed by Télécom graduate at Thales.
The evening, moderated by Emiland De Cubber, a second year student and vice-president of the Télécom ParisTech student association (BDE), proved to be extremely rewarding for everyone involved.
The presence in the amphitheater and at the reception of a delegation from Thales demonstrated the obvious interest this company shows in the education provided by Télécom ParisTech and the skills of its students.
An exclusive partnership
The evening marked the official start of an exclusive relationship between Thales and students at Télécom ParisTech. Each has agreed to work together on practical projects to build synergies between the world of education and the world of work. These projects will include:
- traineeships at Thales - company visits - recruitment preparation support - talks - invitations to core business round tables.
