Master ICT : Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Degree

A four-year Bachelor's degree (minimum) from an internationally recognized university in science or engineering related to the field of the chosen Master.

Proof of English proficiency

When applying, students must provide proof of  English-language proficiency. This could include

  • having English as your mother tongue
  • studies in an English-speaking country
  • acquisition of an English Language qualification (TOEFL : 550PBT or 213 CBT or 79-80 IBT/ IELTS : 5.5 / TOEIC :750 / Cambridge : CAE)*

Nota : Institution Code is 0166 for Telecom ParisTech (ENST). Deparment code is not needed.

*The English test score can be submitted after application but before the course starts.

Proof of French proficiency

When applying, applicants for the following Masters;

  • Digital Communications (DC)
  • Networked Computer Systems (NCS)
  • Embedded Systems (ES)
  • Digital Radio (DR)

are required to have a minimum of TEF II level or equivalent (pre-intermediate) before coming to France. 
French language courses (pre-intermediate to advanced level) are required throughout the  programme.

Application package

Candidates may apply for 2 Masters (mentioning the order of preference).

Application form with 2 photos (with your name in the back)

  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one letter from a teacher attesting the student's qualifications). Please ask your referees to include 1 original & 1 copy in a sealed envelope. On a letterhead of university/company, they should mention
    • your name
    • the Master for which you are applying
    • how they know you
    • your approximate rank in your class
    • your academic performance
    • your personality
  • A Curriculum Vitae (2 copies)
  • English Language Test document
  • Certified transcripts of records
    1 original issued by the university (in the language of origin and certified translations in French* or English *

*translations in French certified by French Embassy or public notary
or
*translations in English certified by public notary.

In case the transcripts are only issued in English, 1 original and 1 certified true copy attested by the university of origin.

  • Detailed syllabus of the Bachelor program (2-3 line-description of each technical course on the transcripts or in the Bachelor courses catalogue).
  • Previous education certificates (high-school degree & Bachelor's degree if graduate)
  • Copy of passport (2 copies)
  • Information on how you intend to meet tuition fees & living costs (Student, parents or sponsor sign a letter stating that they support tuition fees and at least 450 Euros for monthly living expenses)
  • Statement of Purpose (2 copies)
    The Statement of Purpose (Motivation letter) should mention :
    • your current studies or position,
    • your field of interest,
    • why you have chosen the Master in .... (please indicate which Master) of Telecom ParisTech,
    • what would be your post-Master project ...
  • French level certificate (for the MScs in DC, ES & NCS applicants).
    The French level certificate may be submitted after application.

Financial Support

Students must be able to prove financial support of at least 450 Euros per month for living expenses in addition to accommodation costs (subject to change).

For information, the minimum basic living expenses are estimated as follows:

  • Accommodation
    The monthly rent is payable on arrival as soon as the students open a bank account in Paris:
    Single-room basis: around 420 Euros/month/person
    Twin-sharing room basis: around 325 Euros/month/person!! Nota: Students may receive a government grant of 25 % of the monthly rent
  • Food: 250 Euros / month
  • Social and medical insurance: around 200 Euros / year
  • Transportation: 50 Euros / month
  • Miscellaneous: 100 Euros (laundry, phone calls, cultural activities... ) / month

Student Visa

All students must obtain a student visa, except those from EU/EEE countries.

Please refer to the French Embassy in your country for the required documents.

!! French consulates in some countries may require 2 months as minimum to deliver the visa. Please contact them as early as possible after your admission.

Application Deadlines

The application package has to reach Telecom ParisTech by the below mentioned date:


June 4,  2012 for September 2012 entry.

The Admission Board will meet monthly from February to June 2012. All applications will be examined  by fixed dates. First come applications will have a better chance of being accepted.

Candidates are advised to apply early, as most scholarship deadlines are before the end of March.

Candidates will be informed  of the Admission Board decision within the month following each application deadline.

Results will be either :

  • Accepted : in this case please confirm your inscription with the down payment of 1000€.
  • Waiting List : in this case you will receive a final decision in July.
  • Non accepted.

Selection

Selection will be made by an admissions board. Incomplete applications will be rejected, as will applications received by fax or email.

Confirmation of registration

Admitted students must confirm their acceptance by paying a deposit of 1000 Euros within 15 days of the notification of acceptance.

Admission & registration cancellation

Admission and registration are cancelled on the following grounds:

  • the student has not arrived at Telecom ParisTech by 15 October
  • the supporting documents are not complete

Tuition fees

  • 11000 Euros / 3-semester programme
  • 8800 Euros for students from partner universities
  • 3300 Euros for European and Erasmus zone countries
