If you do an internship in one of our research labs, this will open the path to a PhD.

Non-French-speaking PhD students can attend French as a Foreign Language courses (FLE, for Français Langue étrangère). Feel free to contact Fabienne Lassausaie-Duhayon
In order to be truly present among the Doctoral Schools, Telecom ParisTech has joined forces with UPMC to create EDITE de Paris whose goal it is to be the top French Doctoral School in the field of Information and Communication Science and Technology.
EDITE has eight laboratories at its disposal: LIP6 and L2E (UPMC), LTCI (Télécom ParisTech), CNAM, ESPCI ParisTech, INRIA, IRCAM and Télécom SudParis. The services provided by these laboratories are complemented by an extensive network of some fifty laboratories and teams, both public and industrial.
Applicants to the doctoral programmes at one of these institutions must already hold a Research Master's degree, unless a dispensation has been granted. The doctoral programme lasts three years. During this time, doctoral courses are held (cross-disciplinary scientific courses, professional training courses, etc.) as part of a system of credits required in order for students to be authorised to defend their thesis. The institution grants the doctorate based on the successful defence of the thesis.
To do a PhD at Telecom ParisTech : recommendations for application
Doctoral students must already hold a Research Master’s degree, although some are granted a dispensation. They receive financial assistance during the years spent preparing their thesis. Funding comes from various sources (Ministry of Research, CIFRE agreements administered by ANRT, research contracts, bursaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc.), and may be complemented by students’ own funds, giving doctoral students a minimum income allowing them to focus entirely on their studies.
Doctoral students at EDITE de Paris register at their home institution; Telecom Paris students represent close to half of all students of EDITE de Paris. This advantage based on quantity should be strengthened by an increase in quality as Telecom ParisTech students are attracted by this Doctoral School and its programmes. Although students are generally intent on getting a well-paying job immediately following graduation from Telecom ParisTech, the school is committed to increasing the number of students representing it in EDITE.
Research is both a cultural and social necessity. It is also a specific activity at the cutting edge of knowledge and attacks the long-term problems we are facing. All those who decide to take up this challenge will meet a true social and economic need.
