Within the Institut Telecom, which is a leading research organization, Telecom ParisTech has established itself as one of the top research laboratories in the Île-de-France region. Bolstered by the skills of its 350 PHD students, linked to the CNRS, and the preferred partner of the key players in the telecommunications sector, the School cooperates with both academic and industrial partners in the framework of bilateral agreements and research programs at the national level (French National Research Agency [ANR], competitive clusters, etc.) and European level (Framework Programs for Research and Technological Development). Amounting to more than €11M, the School’s turnover for its contractual resources puts it in 8th place in the rankings of the prestigious French Grandes Ecoles (source: “L’Usine Nouvelle”, March 2009).
The School instigates numerous collaborative projects on specific topics, particularly through the following bodies:
- GIS eSyS (Groupement d’Intérêt Scientifique pour l’Électronique des Systèmes)
This Scientific Interest Group for Systems Electronics comprises teaching and research teams from ESIEE Engineering, ISEP, Supélec, the Universities of Paris Sud 11 and the UPMC, with the support of the CNRS. This cooperation is designed to facilitate the sharing of experiences between these teams from universities in the Paris region whose activities focus on "Systems Electronics" (combined electronics and microsystems design, analogue electronics, etc.). It allows the teams concerned to improve their coordination by pooling complementary and diversified resources. The GIS eSys Scientific Interest Group also helps to raise the profile of systems electronics research at international level.
- GIS PariSTIC Scientific Interest Group
The aim of this Scientific Interest Group is to promote scientific and research activities in the field of Information and Communication Technologies and Sciences in Paris, and especially within the UPMC and Telecom ParisTech. This involves improving synergies, developing joint actions and projects at the laboratory and team levels, pooling human and material resources and raising the profile of research in the Paris region.
