Academic and scientific agreements with The National University of Singapore (NUS)

The National University of Singapore (NUS), acting through its School of Computing (SoC) and Télécom ParisTech, signed on the 11th of April 2018 two agreements, one to establish a student exchange programme for doctoral students, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to strengthen the scientific collaborations between both institutions.

The MoU covers the following areas:

  • (a) identification of the opportunities for visiting scholar exchanges and cooperation, and joint research and development in disciplines of mutual interest;
  • (b) exchange of scientific, academic, and technical information and appropriate academic materials and other information of mutual interest for which each party holds intellectual property rights;
  • (c) the organization of, and participation in, joint academic and scientific activities such as seminars, workshops and conferences.

A one-day joint workshop was organised on the 12th of April 2018. It brought together researchers from NUS-SoC and Télécom ParisTech to present their work and to discuss possible collaborations in areas such as Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Image Processing, and Human-Computer Interaction.

After the workshop ended, the Ambassador of France to Singapore, His Excellency Mr Marc Abensour opened the roundtable entitled "Live Better in Smart Cities Empowered with Artificial Intelligence". The panel comprised members from academia (NUS-SoC and Télécom ParisTech) and the industry (Schneider Electric and Airbus Aerial Asia).
